With the temperatures slowly yet surely dropping, there is no question that the fall season is here, and winter is around the corner.
At our apartment community in El Paso, TX, we thought this is the most appropriate time to post some safety tips to help keep your home safe and sound through the end of the year!
The information that follows, was written by a good friend of ours who lives in the beautiful community of Incline Village, NV, which is located on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.
We thank Fire Chief Ryan Sommers of the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, for his informative list of tips to prepare your home for the weather to come.

•Keep walking areas free of electrical cords, shoes, clothing, books, magazines and other items.
•Improve the lighting inside your home. Use nightlights or a flashlight to light the path between your bedroom and the bathroom.
•Use non-slip mats in the bathtub. Wipe up spilled liquids immediately.
•Be aware of uneven surfaces indoors. If you must have scatter rugs, make sure they lay flat and do not slide when you step on them. Smooth out wrinkles and folds in carpeting.
•Wear sturdy, well-fitting low-heeled shoes with non-slip soles. They are safer than slippers, stocking feet, high heels, or thick-soled athletic shoes.
•Test your Smoke alarms and request replacement batteries from our leasing office if needed.
We hope this safety information helps you and your family to prepare and plan for whatever Mother Nature has in mind!
Stay safe.
